Opinion: In just a one-year period, 388 homeless people moved into Greater Victoria – can we expect more?

The BC government has opened nearly a half-dozen new homeless housing facilities in Victoria, but is it enough to keep pace with the influx of homeless people?

The February, 2016 Point In Time Homeless Count identified 1,387 un-housed individuals, and 388 of them had moved into Victoria in just the preceding 12 months.

Are we at our natural capacity or can the City still expect to welcome another 300 or more each year?  We are looking for your comments and constructive ideas.
